Hike: Seven Falls in Sabino Canyon
Distance: 7.8 mi
I’ve done this hike before in the summer with the Munchkat and J. J tried to warn me that there might not be any water that time of year, but I held out hope all the way until I saw the stagnant, mosquito infested puddle where the falls would normally be. It’s been a dry winter/spring, so when K suggested we hike Seven Falls in April, I wasn’t convinced that there would be water. I also thought he was a little crazy to suggest beginning an eight mile hike at 1pm on a hot day, but I needed to get out of the house and so I went along anyway.
The hike was much easier than I remember. Maybe I’m in better hiking shape, or maybe the 20 degree difference between 85 and 105 changes everything. We arrived at the falls and were rewarded with a breathtaking view of not just the falls, but all the pools beneath! It was a little too cold to swim in, but we waded around and climbed up a bit higher toward the top of the falls. We rested and admired the view and then took a while to figure out how to get back down (apparently it’s becoming a habit to get stuck in our perches). Easy hike out, return home, dinner, acro.
